AUCTION CHANEL 1995 AUTUMN/WINTER BLACK BOUCLÉ JACKET

This jacket was designed by Karl Lagerfeld in 1995 and captures everything iconic about Chanel in that era, sharp tailoring at the shoulders and waist, a clean collar, and those unmistakable CC-logo buttons in tonal gilt. But what makes this piece especially rare are the two lower back pockets, an unexpected and playful touch that turns a classic into something unforgettable.

The jacket is made from Chanel’s signature black bouclé, one of the most beautiful and durable fabrics out there. It’s surprisingly low-maintenance and holds up incredibly well, even decades later. The inside is fully lined in silk printed with the iconic CC monogram. (Note: the white collar in the images is for styling purposes only and not part of the jacket.) It has two flap pockets at the chest, matching buttons at the cuffs, and discreet concealed pockets at the hips, every detail perfectly balanced between elegance and practicality.

A version of this exact jacket was previously purchased from me by Gab Waller, who wore it beautifully for Elle Australia. It was originally part of my ‘ The Traveler’ series, where a single jacket travels between five women, but it never made it past the first, as Gab decided to keep it. You can read her story here: kern-1.com/stories/2020/5/10/gabriel

It’s one of those stories that reaffirms what I’ve always believed: Chanel jackets find their way to the person they were meant for. Wonder where this jacket will end up.
