26017 Jacket 40 EU Fall Winter 1990 Black France
|
A 1991 classic little black Chanel jacket with boxy fit, designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Fall collection of that year. Minimalistic on the outside, more playful within.
The exterior follows the house’s established codes: a collarless neckline, round gilt CC buttons at the front, matching buttons at the cuffs, and patch pockets, each finished with a single button. It has a subtle v-neck. The overall silhouette is notably straighter and more relaxed than Chanel’s typically more fitted jackets. It falls just above the hips, giving it a more modern, effortless line that feels current. This also makes it particularly well suited to be worn slightly oversized on a smaller frame, enhancing its relaxed, contemporary feel. The model typically wears size 34/36 EU.
Crafted from one of Chanel’s most durable wool textiles, the fabric is woven with a subtle texture of small, structured squares, giving it depth. The fabric holds its structure and resists visible wear, even after more than three decades. Lined in silk, it is printed with hand-drawn motifs by Lagerfeld: diamonds, CC logos, and jewellery, adding a more expressive underside. The combination of the straight, modern cut with this distinctive lining makes the piece especially rare. A chain along the hem ensures the jacket falls cleanly when worn.
